Verse 1
There is a table in a house of ours,
Not a table of gold, but of bread and of light;
The Lord Jesus sits at the head of it,
And the children may come and be near him tonight.
Verse 2
There is a candle in the middle of the table,
Lit by a hand that we cannot yet see;
The Father is calling us all to the supper,
And the door is unlocked for the small and the free.
Bridge
Come to the table, come,
For the Lord has laid it well;
Come to the table, come,
For the Lord who died in our stead is at the table still.
Verse 3
So let this household sit down together,
Break the bread and thank the Lord;
Let the small hands fold and the young hearts remember,
That Christ is the table, the table, the word.
Bridge (Repeat)
Come to the table, come,
For the Lord has laid it well;
Come to the table, come,
For the Lord who died in our stead is at the table still.
