How it works

One verse a week. Fifty-two weeks. At the end of the year the whole household has fifty-two Scriptures memorized. Say the verse together at breakfast Monday morning. Say it again at bedtime through the week. Test each other on Sunday. Then start the next verse.

Weeks 1–8 · Beginnings

1. Genesis 1:1 — In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth.
2. John 3:16 — For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son…
3. John 1:1 — In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.
4. Psalm 23:1 — The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want.
5. Psalm 46:10 — Be still, and know that I am God.
6. Proverbs 3:5 — Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding.

Weeks 9–16 · Fear not

9. Isaiah 41:10 — Fear thou not; for I am with thee.

52. Revelation 22:20 — Even so, come, Lord Jesus.

A method that works

Say it three times. First out loud, first thing in the morning. Second before dinner. Third at bedtime. Do it every day. The verse will be in your child's memory by the end of the week. And it will stay. Truly. "Thy word have I hid in mine heart, that I might not sin against thee."
