Psalm 41 ends Book I of the Psalter with the same word every book of Psalms closes with: Amen. And in that one book it says it twice, for emphasis: Amen and Amen. This stripped-acoustic hymn is the last of the First 33 — one finger-picked guitar, one close voice, and a household saying yes to everything God has said.

The Christian Amen is not a punctuation mark; it is a signature. When the household says Amen, we are signing our name at the bottom of God's own promises — agreeing that they are true, agreeing that we will live by them. The last of the First 33 hymns ends the way every household evening ought to end: Amen and Amen, blessed be his name.
O Lord who was and is and is to come, we sign our Amen at the bottom of thy Word. Amen for the mercies past. Amen for the mercies to come. Amen for this household gathered under thy roof tonight. Amen for the way home. In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen and Amen.
