Reflection

The Christian household discovers, sooner or later, that the Christ we sing to is not merely a good teacher — he is the Lord that wind and sea obey. That is not information; that is a comfort. Whatever storm the household walks through, the same voice that once calmed Galilee is still in the room. He does not always still the storm. But he is always Lord over it.

A Prayer to the Sovereign Christ

Lord Christ, thou art the same Christ that spoke to the wind and the sea. Speak the same word over this household — over its sicknesses, its fears, its little ones' sleep. We rest in the authority thou dost carry. In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.

Evening As the house grows quiet
